Single Subject Tutoring
Through the years of being in public education, Carrie and Rich have accumulated a plethora of curricular materials which are up to date with Pennsylvania Common Core Standards and Practices in most curricula. Carrie’s specialty is in Math subjects ranging from elementary through Algebra 2 and Geometry.
Executive Functioning
Executive function is a set of mental skills that include working memory, flexible thinking, and self-control. We use these skills every day to learn, work, and manage daily life. Trouble with executive function can make it difficult to focus, follow directions, and handle emotions, among other things. We have helped countless students throughout our careers in developing executive functioning strategies.
College Preparatory Course
Carrie has helped countless high school students prepare for their post-secondary endeavors by enhancing their writing skills including constructing and improving their college essays as well as helping them manage assignments and schedules. She has developed ACT/SAT courses INCLUDING preparatory study plans for the NEW DIGITAL SAT that challenge students while building test taking skills.
Special Education/504 Consultation and Advocacy
Through their 35+ years each of work with special needs students, Carrie and Rich have become well respected for their honest appraisal of skills and needs of students. Parents and school personnel have sought their recommendations for the best practices needed for educating special education students.
Emotional Education Counseling
It is not possible to construct a building on weak foundation. This is especially true when a child is developing from an adolescent into a young adult. In the modern day lives of students, many students have developed problems with executive functioning, emotional fulfillment and disengagement from academic responsibilities. Carrie and Rich have regularly worked with students that have experienced such problems, and through a collaborative approach with parents and guardians, developed plans for students to achieve more confidence with themselves.
